Chapter 1. Lizards
I think that the lizards are watching us. Yes I do. And I think they know what's up. And when I say up, I do mean up. Exhibit 1: I went on the backporch yesterday, was jamming on my guitar, when I felt like someone...or something...was looking at me. Alas, I looked up and straight into the eyes...er eye, actually....of a lizard. And the lizard did not blink. It just kept staring at me. So I kept playing. And it just kept staring at me. Exhibit 2: I went for a swim this morning and...I got that feeling again....I was daydreaming and swimming...la la la la la....ahh...someone is watching me ! Yes, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you guessed it, it was yet another lizard. (True it very well may have been the very same lizard. Which is okay with me.) Perched precariously on the side of our lovely home, upside down, oggling me. Okay it is a bit presumptious to assume that it was looking at me. It is a lizard, its eyes probably don't even work the same as a humans. Who knows what it was looking at. Yet it was gazing toward me. So I stared back at it. For a while. Then I thought of something to say to it: "Hi Brother Lizard" (you're right, it may have been a female lizard..if so, my apologies, I am sexually confused.) It just sat there so I tried to think of something else to say to it. "You are a very....interesting lizard. Look at that curly zany tail of yours..." then..I think it knew I was bullshiting it so it did what any self respecting lizard would do and ran away. I mean, what do you say to a lizard? "You all look the same to me." I began to wonder if that was what lizards think about us humans..."you two leggeds all look the same to me." But....I think that there is a lot more going on in the lizard mind than that. Seriously. I think the lizards know what is up. I rest my case.
